America’s foreign policy is designed to amplify the nation’s voice and extend its reach in areas critical to the daily lives of its citizens. We work to ensure that our country’s diplomatic leadership enhances our security and stability, while reflecting American values.
On the frontlines of diplomacy, Consular Fellows adjudicate visa applications of foreign citizens seeking to come to the United States to visit, study, and work, and assist U.S. citizens traveling or living abroad. Fellows work to prevent fraud, combat trafficking in persons, and protect U.S. border security, which directly supports the U.S. Department of State’s mission to provide overseas consular services that protect U.S. citizens, ensure U.S. national security, facilitate the entry of legitimate travelers, and foster economic growth at home.
The Department hires Civil Service employees, Foreign Service Officers and for Foreign Service Specialist jobs in Administration, Construction Engineering, Facility Management, Information Technology, International Information and English Language Programs, Medical and Health, Office Management, and Law Enforcement and Security.
