Chelsea Groton Bank was invited to attend the UConn Learning Communities Reverse Career Fair on Thursday, April 30 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM, hosted by UConn’s Affinity-Based Learning Communities and the Center for Career Readiness and Life Skills.
This unique event flips the traditional career fair format. Instead of employers hosting booths, students will showcase professional display posters highlighting their skills, academic experiences, leadership, research, and career goals. Employers will circulate throughout the space, engage in meaningful conversations, and discover talented, motivated students from UConn’s affinity-based Learning Communities, including:
- La Comunidad Intelectual (Latine Culture Focused Learning Community)
- BSOUL House (Black Sisters Optimizing Unity & Leadership)
- ScHOLA2RS House (Scholastic House of Leaders in support of African American Researchers & Scholars – Black Men & First-Generation Students)
- First Gen House
Why Participate?
- Meet highly motivated and prepared students in an interactive setting.
- Engage in meaningful one-on-one conversations.
- Identify emerging leaders from UConn’s affinity-based Learning Communities.
- No booth setup or registration fee required.
- Opportunity to diversify your recruitment pipeline.
What to Expect:
- Students will be stationed at individual poster displays highlighting their academic background, leadership, research, internships, and career aspirations.
- Students will deliver a prepared 20-30-second professional pitch introducing themselves and their goals.
- Students will have printed copies of their resumes available at their station.
- Employers are encouraged to bring business cards and information about opportunities.
